Water Lily Series

I took a lot of photos of water lilies when we were in Florida, so I decided to make a series of art pieces. These are called Dragonfly Dream #1 - 3. All have handmade green papers in the lily pads, blue ledger paper from 1858 in the water, and shredded U.S. currency "floating" among the pads. (available for purchase on my website lorireedart.com)

Calm...

This serene piece is 12"H x 9"W x 1"Deep and is titled "Open to Joy." The original photo was taken by my friend Ellen McDowell when she was kayaking. I ran filters on the photo, printed out 3 versions to cut into strips and added in the Japanese characters for water lily in the top right of the sky. Some handmade papers add to the texture of the lily and shredded currency from the Federal Reserve float among the lily pads.

Gift

A dear friend just moved to a new city. I grabbed one of her photographs from her FB page and created this artwork as a housewarming gift for her.
