Small Works

I've been making some small 4x6 wrapped canvases and having a lot of fun making concise statements. In the majority of these I used faded pages from an 1890s ledger book filled with that wonderful penmanship of the era and photos from my Grandma's 1920s photo album. From left to right, top to bottom: A Catch, Lung Fever in Hogs (the writing is a recipe for treating that!), New perspective on Marie, 60 degrees 22 min., Risque Business, and Sisters with 16. If you click on the photo above, it will enlarge so you can see the details better.

Nostalgia

Often I like to evoke a nostalgic feeling in my work. In this piece I used a photo frame and 2 enigmatic small square pics from Penny's bag of photos; I combined those with a photo of a woman my Grandmother had cut out and pasted in her 1920s-era photo album, a page out of an old geometry book and some pages from an old ledger. I wrapped these around the canvas to make its edges interesting as it hangs on the wall.
